Module Outline
This module provides an introduction to programming for postgraduate students, esp. for those without computer science background. We will discuss important computing and programming concepts and students will learn how to write tidy and well-documented code in C - a ubiquitous programming language that also forms an important foundation for embedded systems programming. Our weekly laboratory sessions contain a theory part and a practice part - with a strong focus on the latter - enabling students to implement any new concepts learned in code and gather practical experience in programming along the way.
Module learning outcomes
Select and apply appropriate computational and analytical techniques to solve a given engineering problem.
Demonstrate analysis of numerical results, evaluation and validation of such results using established techniques.
Deal with complex engineering problems both systematically and creatively.
