FHEQ Level 3 (sub-degree)

Full Module Description

This module will introduce two of the major literary genres – short prose fiction and lyric poetry – as well as a historic range of literary writing through the study of significant works of English and American literature, and important texts in translation. Based on close reading, you will consider how literature portrays both the interior qualities of the human self and the external world – the social, cultural, scientific and historical fabric from which literary texts emerge. Encountering different methods of interpreting literature, you will be encouraged to develop as a critical thinker and an expressive writer.
