Module Outline
This module studies modern approaches to large-scale software
production. After a review of the key concepts in the whole life-cycle
of a software product (requirement analysis, software architecture and
design, implementation, quality assurance and maintenance activities)
the module investigates modern software engineering technology like
version control, build automation, testing, logical approaches to
specification, and verification of programs and domain-specific languages.
Coursework will be team-based and involve the production of a significant software system.
A solid knowledge of programming is important for this module. Programming exercises will be in Java.
Module learning outcomes
Schedule and manage a multi-person project.
Choose tools and technologies which are appropriate for the task and the team.
Specify, design, implement, verify and maintain software using modern software engineering tools.
