Register now
You can now register for your digital staff car park permit. This gives you access to staff prices which are cheaper than visitor rates. The permit gives you permission to park your registered vehicle(s) in all campus car parks, subject to appropriate payment.
There are two types of staff parking permit:
- Annual permit
- Pay as you go permit
When you register for your staff permit on the portal, you will have the option to choose to pay monthly for an annual parking permit (via salary deduction), or for the daily pay as you go permit, which is free to apply for and then requires you to pay for parking each time you come to campus. To register, you will need your six-digit person code from , which you can find under 'personal details' in the 'personal' drop down tab.
Charges and times
For pay as you go users, daily car park use will be charged at £2 a day. You must pay for daily parking via PayByPhone for parking between 9am-5pm on weekdays. Outside of these hours no payment is needed.
An annual permit is £30 per month (£360 per year) pro rata and is paid through monthly salary deduction.
Information about visitor car parking rates are published in our FAQ's. Visitors will have to pay for parking 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
How paperless parking works at Sussex
Additional Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras have been installed at campus road entrances. The cameras record your vehicle registration and time of entry and exit.
If you have an annual parking permit, the system will automatically recognise a payment has been made for your vehicle.
If you have opted to pay as you go once parked, you will need to pay for parking, and the system will recognise that a payment has been made for your vehicle.
How to pay for daily parking
For staff who have chosen to pay as you go there are various ways to pay for daily parking. First, you need to register for the pay as you go option on your parking account on the self-service .
- Daily parking can be purchased via the PayByPhone App, available on Android and iOS mobile phone devices, or on your computer browser via the PayByPhone .
- Alternatively, you can purchase your daily parking via phone (01273 785599) following the information on local signage at car parks.
Anyone who does not pay for parking will be issued a Parking Charge Notice of £80, reduced to £40 if paid within 14 days.
There is a grace period of 60 minutes before charges commence, to allow for deliveries, pick-ups and drop-offs.
Blue Badge holders
Parking on campus is free for all Blue Badge holders, in all car parking spaces. As parking fines will now be issued using ANPR cameras, all Blue Badge holders must register their vehicle(s) with the Transport Office to avoid a Parking Charge Notice. To register your vehicle, please email transport@sef.fm. Blue Badge holders do not need a parking account or permit.
Campus visitors
Parking for visitors and guests can be arranged through the existing process, and confirmation of the booking will be received by the University contact.

If you have unused daily staff car parking scratch cards after Monday 14 October, these can be refunded by contacting the Transport Office.
You should continue to display last year’s paper parking permit until the end of September.
