Apprentice Audience The module introduces you to a range of business and technology concepts essential for running a modern business, such as management theory, organisational structures, human resources, marketing, corporate social responsibility, strategy, and digital innovation. You will understand various models, tools, and concepts that you can apply to the business that you will set up and run. You can critically discuss these models, tools, and concepts with your business (team) partners, weighing the benefits and drawbacks of each before selecting which one to apply. You will be able to identify and agree upon the right models, tools, and concepts for you, your business, and your customers—your stakeholders. The module is designed to help you appreciate the interconnected nature of business organisations, the digital environment in which they operate, and the people involved. It aims to help you contextualize the study of organisations and equip you with the capability to analyse organisational and management issues in a contemporary, technology-driven setting. Importance of the Mode of Learning This module emphasizes a balanced approach, combining theoretical instruction with practical application. The lectures will discuss conceptual and theoretical issues but will use examples and illustrations from actual cases. The workshops will be used to real-world applications to deepen understanding, and consolidate learning and run simulations. Some workshop activities will cover elements of helping apprentices with their study skills and introducing them to concepts such as critical thinking and reflection. Assessment of knowledge and skills will be conducted through quizzes, reflective logs, a group written submission on a business simulation and a group presentation, to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of apprentices’ learning and application capabilities.
