This module is designed to equip studentswith an advanced understanding of the underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms thatlead to the development of some of the most common brain disorders. The module will investigate the primary target of each disease within the brain and its pathological hallmarks. This is followed by exploring the genetic, cellular and molecular basis of the disease. It will also examine current strategies and outlooks for treating the studied brain disorders. Students will develop theirability to synthesise ideas and to concisely explain scientific content,critically appraise academic literature and methodologies, and consider ethics.
