The CLHLWR is pleased to support a new community heritage and oral history project led by young people from Longhill High School
is a project led by young people from in Hove to develop a two-part digital project, including an interactive map that leads people across the city of Brighton & Hove, listening to memories in the place they were made (via geolocation); and a website that will store oral histories, images and film, and enable people to remotely engage with the project.
Giddy will provide a supportive structure for young people to work with people who were teenagers in the 1940s to '60s, to ask them questions about their lives as young people during that time. They will work with the (lead heritage partner) and Oral History Society to learn skills in archival research, curating, oral history interviewing and conservation. They will also work with , and to learn about heritage of the time period, and to research and select images for the Giddy app and website.
Giddy launches at alongside an exhibition of films, interviews and images at University of Brighton, gathered from , , and local residents by students from Longhill High School.
