We celebrated the winter shine and sparkle in exploring lives lived with and under the Moon. There were seasonal drinks and nibbles.
Writer James Attlee explored what humanity loses in the perpetual day of contemporary society, drawing from his acclaimed We followed by considering the Moon’s own history, from its violent birth to the moon landings, to a red Moon at the time of climate change.
Proudly featuring art historian and CLHLWR researcher Dr Alexandra Loske in conversation with Dr Robert Massey, Deputy Executive Director at the Royal Astronomical Society, who celebrated the launch of their beautiful new book .
Sussex University astrophysicist Dr Darren Baskill offered a response and set up a telescope outside the Language Centre, throught which guests were invited to look at the Moon. Luckily, whether conditions were perfect, and we even took photographs of the Moon through the telescope.
