The Waggle Dance

Every bee keeper should know without a doubt
When the bee waggles she has been out
She has been on a journey far and wide
Foraging for nectar, returning to the hive

Standing with pride on the vertical comb
Other bees taste the nectar she has brought home
Shaking of the body, doing a figure eight
Gives the other bees a direction to locate

If she waggles her body for a couple of secs
the source could be one and a quarter miles, no less
A waggle fro a fraction of a second is near
The Sun's position will help that's clear

The man to thank for what we know
Is Karl van Fisch, a nosy so and so
He won the Nobel Prize in 1973
(Information passed on from you to me)

When you have a pot of honey in your hand
look and smell and think how grand
The beautiful nectar created by a bee
It tastes so wonderful with bread and a cup of tea
