Introduction
The Lewis Collection gathers material from a variety of sources and includes 60 letters from Kipling and four literary manuscripts. There are around 20 items which concern the friendship of his daughter Elsie with Harold and Madeline Maxwell and her marriage to Captain George Bambridge in 1924. This collection, accumulated by a Kipling scholar, was deposited at the AVÊÓƵ in February 1981 and nine further additions were made over the next decade.
