Biography
In 2022 I completed my CHASE-funded PhD with a thesis entitled 'Unfixed Virginity: Metaphor and Defloration in Early Modern Drama'. My thesis explores how metaphors are used to conceptualise virginity and the virgin body in Tudor and Stuart drama, and conversely, how virginity and the virgin body are used as a metaphor across early modern culture more broadly, intersecting with contemporary religious, legal, and medical discourses.
