Working in Translation (965Q3)
30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Spring teaching
We offer theoretical and practical experience in the work of the translator. Both freelance and in house, in the global translation and language service industry.
You’ll gain an understanding of the profession’s nature, build on your employability skills and kickstart your professional development.
We will look at the practical elements of working in translation, such as:
- learning how to apply for work placements
- creating freelance translation portfolios
- identifying and approaching potential clients.
We encourage students to consider their online presence. Through this, and global volunteering opportunities, you’ll learn to break the ‘experience paradox’. You will also undertake a practical section of the module via a work placement, and internship or other form of training.
