Researching and Communicating Chemistry (F1102)

Autumn teaching

Think critically and develop the skills and understanding required for explaining scientific concepts to a range of audiences.

You’ll explore the different types of scientific explanations, and will bring these ideas together to develop your knowledge of questioning. You’ll look at the modelling of scientific concepts and processes to aid effective explanations.

You’ll have opportunities to deliver:

  • an oral presentation
  • a poster presentation
  • team debates
  • essays
  • scientific journal write-ups.

Base your research and communication on scientific content inlcuding green chemistry, environmental chemistry and climate change.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 34 hours of contact time and about 116 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
