Autumn teaching
On this module, you’ll develop key undergraduate academic skills through independent research. You’ll focus on building your abilities as a researcher, including:
- finding, analysing and evaluating source material
- forming and supporting arguments in essays and presentations.
Your learning is supported by the Canvas site, which offers resources on research skills. Engaging with these materials and participating in seminars will help you develop approaches expected at undergraduate level.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 16 hours of contact time and about 134 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
